the hurricane

So.. all of these horrible things are happening in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama and what the hell is the world doing about it? Of course, going on vacation to our ranches. WHAT ELSE DO YOU DO WHEN HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE ARE DYING!!!!! Can you tell that I am really pissed about this? I have purposely  not watched the news about it or looked at any pictures that weren't stuck out for me to see. I don't like seeing horrific things at all. I also don't get upset about things to the crying point. Last night Tristia taped Primetime and we watched it today. It was about Katrina (the hurricane) of course. It was horrible. People have health problems and aren't getting any help. People are dying and no one cares. But dammit, there are reporters getting back and forth everywhere. People have been waiting 3 days for buses to come take them out of the state, but nothing. While doing an interview, a woman went into diabetic shock. WTF. and no one can do anything. The president (the best man for the job GW Bush) said that there will be ZERO TOLERANCE for anyone caught stealing ANYTHING.

OMG. these people are starving, dying, there is nothing for them in their 'shelters'. Thousands of people huddled in supposedly safe buildings in unsanitary conditions and they are getting jailed for stealing food and water. In every fucking interview I have seen Bush do today, he says its on the way, help is on the way, food is on the way, supplies are on the way. I really want to know how all the reporters are getting in and out of these cities and the fucking National Guard can't. 'Floating things takes time' our leader says. OMG, the Primetime people were driving a freakin SUV through the water. Bush says 'there were no signs that the levies would break under pressure of a hurricane'. Several politicians were interviewed and said that they had been trying to get funding to do the upgrades and strengthen the levies for a long time. Warnigns were everywhere and NO ONE wanted to believe it.

Here we are watching this and I am balling my eyes out because I have never seen people suffer and beg so much and people just driving by. You hear people pleading for some one to give them something, water, anything.. and they get nothing. I want to do something but I can't exactly drive down there and save them, I don't have enough  money to donate $50000 to them. (though 93 million has already been donated to the people in 3 days.. when the tsunami relief only had 30 million first 3 days)!! I hate feeling so helpless for these people. And its worse because now it's a white on black thing. Some NAACP lawyers and Louisiana folks were saying that help would have been there sooner had it been rich white folk and not the poor black people. They had no means of escaping, no cars, nothing. They just had to stay and try to survive. How fair is that? I hear stories about people begging for rides out and no one would help their fellow people. How do you leave people to die? how in the hell can you justify this even to yourself for one minute? I am so disgusted with this country. I am seriously thinking about moving to somewhere else when I am done with school. Tristia and I can get jobs in another country - canada, europe, asia. I don't care. i think its a disgrace how people treat eachother and the lack of compassion.
