Writer's Block: Out, Out Damn Spot!

Have you ever been passionate about something to the point of an obsession? If so, how did it impact the rest of your life? Did you ever (or would you want to) break free?

I am very passionate about equal rights for all people, particularly queer people, people of color and displaced people. I  have been very vocal about it and pushed many people away. There are people in my life who couldn't understand why I'd want to talk to them about the issues that people who are discriminated against face. It didn't effect me badly because I was doing my part to change myself and to help others see that the things they say/do can effect other people. I never wanted to break free from my desire to help people. However, living in a not activisty community has left me with little choice but to shut my mouth and let people think what they want. I have developed a fear of the locals and I don't want to be hate-crimed. So I silently fight the injustice, I write papers about the injustice and I try to stay connected with my activisty friends so that my passion is fueled.
